Hi Everyone and Happy Hurricane Friday!

It looks like Hurricane Irene shouldn’t do radical damage to us here in the DC area but I’d just like to send out positive thoughts to our members who have friends and family along the coast – including all my peeps up on Long Island.   Let’s also keep in our thoughts all of the small business owners in ocean towns who count on this upcoming weekend as one of the biggest revenue weekends of the summer.

Here’s a look at our upcoming calendar:

Tomorrow, August 27th and Saturday September 3rd  – Coach Matt, a multiple time Nation’s Tri finisher, is hosting a Nation’s Tri tune up and transition clinic.  This clinic is designed to help you get the most out of your efforts at the Nation’s Tri or any other triathlon you are participating in during the coming month.

Sunday, September 11thThe Nation’s Triathlon

Please look up your bib number and email me your name, cell phone number (for texting) and bib number.  Also let me know if this is your first triathlon or first Olympic distance.

National Park Service regulations won’t allow us to set up the OTTC support tent but we will have the OTTC van there and volunteers on site for support.  Since we can’t predict beforehand exactly where the van will be I will text you early on Sunday to give you details.   Our event coordinators, Dawn and Lisa, are also working on details for carpooling to bike racking and the event for those who are interested.

Brunch @ 2:30pm – There will be a designated place for brunch at 2:30 for those that would like to get together after the event and socialize.  Details will be posted toward the end of next week.

Volunteers Needed – I’d like to have two volunteers on site to take pictures of our members competing in this event.  You don’t need to be an expert photographer – just have a digital camera and be willing to help!!!

Monday, September 12th – 7pmOTTC Happy Hour   So you completed the Nation’s Tri and now it’s time to brag!!  (and for all of us that didn’t do Nation’s we’ll just have to suck it up and applaud!)     C’mon down to King Street Blues with your finisher medal so we can get an OTTC team picture!    We will be giving out prizes for some of our OTTC team finishers!

Wednesday, September 14th – 7pm – 2012 Beginner Triathlete Program   Please share this!!  Many of you have graciously volunteered to be mentors for OTTC … so let’s get some more mentees!  This program is for those who are brand spanking new to triathlon and the OTTC.  If you’ve got a bulletin board at work please post the flyer … if you’ve got some friend’s that might be interested (you know, the ones you’ve been trying to convince that it’s ‘fun’) please forward the information.

Check out our calendar for upcoming events such as the Army Ten Miler and RSVP for the post race BBQ!!

That’s all for now everyone – have a fabulous weekend!
